Judy, thanks for sharing your sentiments- writing can be a lonely job, especially if the parameter is how others view it or gauge it monetarily. Sometimes it is exciting, and sometimes, it's just not when others don’t view it as you view it yourself. As long as you enjoy it - it should not matter so much. Of course, community is vital, which also implies readers, but I would say keep going for your joy of writing.
